There is a story of silencing: Arabian Panther, a DJ and producer, who always spoke up for the palestinian cause, was due to play at Berghain on the 12.01. – but it never happened: His gig was cancelled with shady reasoning due to his propalestinian stand. We decided to give him his voice back and have Arabian Panther with us while keeping in mind that the systematic silencing of artists, scholars and protestors demanding justice remind us of our own powers. His nuanced musical amalgamation of a warrior’s anthem with club bangers infused with Arabic scales and Middle Eastern instruments stand out and have a highly energetic quality and a very concrete feel. Taking it from there, Mânaa who fuses hyper-arabesque sounds with contemporary UK-oriented rave aesthetics will be closing. With a mixture of Levantine traditions deeply intertwined with what one might call the global bass movement, sawra! aka phrex will be opening the night.

We come together in opposition to the colonial structures and the current divisive rhetorics that have a huge impact on people with migrational backgrounds here and people living with what colonialism has left back in the global south. Through our collective resistance on and beyond a dancefloor we stand firm against fascism, political zionism, racism including antisemitism, islamophobia & antiarabism and all forms of discriminations. We recognize the intersectionality of the causes – connect the struggles of the Palestinian, the Congolese and the Sudanese people and refuse to partake in what we are currently seeing: militarism, ethnonationalism and the dehumanization of indegenous people, genocide, religious extremism and the lack of awareness and sensibility in europe. Understanding the role of white supremacy is key to the case. Inform and educate yourself through the people affected and human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’tselem and UN-organizations. Inform others and keep the struggle in your heart. Carry it with great care because no one is free until we are all free.
